This classroom management system has been one of my favorite so far. My First Graders really pick up on this quickly the first few weeks of school and it helps cut down on time out of the classroom.
I bought a stack of 6 plastic cups at The Dollar Tree then I used my Cricut Explore Air 2 machine to cut out vinyl that I put on the 2 red cups and 2 blue cups. I allow 4 total out at a time.
How it works:
The students ask to use the bathroom then if there are "cups" available, they take the correct cup and place it on their work box which is at their desk. If they happen to be doing work around the room I still have them place it at their seat even if their work box is somewhere else. I LOVE this visual for a quick scan of the room to see who is out at the bathroom. I keep the cups in the front of our room on our class iPad cart. When the student comes back, they simply put their cup back on the iPad cart.
*In the past I tried having the students write their class number on a chart by the door but the dry erase markers kept getting misplaced or they'd forget to erase it. I also had magnets they had to put on a board but then they'd forget to walk back over and move them and also some magnets went missing (garbage can was under that board...so they were GONE forever lol)
I hope this works for you if you if you decide to give it a try!
